Older kids can do their own lettering, or you can prep this part for your child. For the girls’ names, I cut a 12″x18″ sheet of drawing paper in half. I did my short name on a letter-size piece of copy paper. This will make all kinds of closed-in spaces for your designs. The letters should touch the top and bottom of the paper, as well as each other.
To get started, write your name in large block-style letters on your paper. I find that my girls and I always have interesting conversations while we sit and draw together. So, the other day, my hand found a pen and was drawing along, when I took a look to see what was going on, and I decided to add curved stripes to see how much more three dimensional these grape shapes could be using just line. My hand will draw one automatically if it can find a drawing instrument.
